2020 Race cancelled

Well, the time came for us to face the facts. There was no way we could run this race without breaking physical distancing guidelines and putting our participants’ health at risk. The decision to cancel was easy but heartbreaking.

If you have already registered, you will receive an email asking you what you would like us to do with your registration money: credit, refund, or donation to the Legion.

The Glen Tay Block Race has been run every year since 1967 when it was resurrected as a Centennial project. History and tradition are important to Perth, so we don’t want to break that streak. If you can find the time to run the GTBR route sometime before August 25th, go out and run it, record your time, and send it to us (use our Contact Page). On August 27th (or thereabouts), we will publish your time on Results Page. Any time recorded on the actual route between July 12th and August 25th will be considered an “official” time for posterity. No need to photograph your time…we trust you! However, no medals or t-shirts will be awarded this year.

Like so many other events this year, our wee race has fallen victim to this global pandemic. But don’t worry, we will be back next year! Stay strong and keep running!

COVID-19

Like everyone else in the World, we here at the GTBR are putting personal plans on hold, reevaluating the future, and making the best of a bad situation.

If you don’t register for our race just yet, we understand. If you register in order to give yourself a training goal, we get that too. Either way, know that we are not putting the race on ice just yet. Since the race is at the end of August, we hope that the health crisis will be over by then and we can go ahead a pull that starter’s pistol trigger at 6pm on August 27th.

Registration will remain open until it becomes obvious that we can’t hold the race. At that time, if you have registered, we will refund your money, of course.

Best of luck staying in shape, running while practising social distancing, and keeping your spirits up!

Time to register

Get a jump on the competition and register now for the GTBR (Glen Tay Block Race). Our registration page is up and running. Click on the Register tab and follow the instructions. It’s guaranteed to wipe away those winter blahs!

Lost & Found

Only two objects were left behind:

  • A hydration belt
  • A pretty swell bottle (or is that a pretty Swell bottle)

If one of these belongs to you, send us a note on our Contact page and we’ll find a way to get it to you.

Just two weeks to race day!

Hey runners! The summer classic Glen Tay Block Race is only two weeks away. On Thursday, August 29th, join us for our 14.7 km race.

Don’t forget to register before race day to save $5. If you do leave a little late, we do accept race-day registration. It costs $25 (still a great deal) but we only accept cash or cheques. We will have a float but if you can pay with exact change that will help speed things up.

See you soon!

Regristration is OPEN

Hey runners! The Glen Tay Block Race registration site is up and running (so to speak).

You can click on the link and register for this year’s summer classic. Everything you know and love about the Glen Tay Block Race is back: same low price, the classic route, the historic venue, and the same quirky race time – 6pm on a Thursday evening!

If this is one of your go-to races of the summer, welcome back. If this is your first time, welcome to our little race. To find out what makes this race unique, read the ABOUT page and the HISTORY of the race. Then click on the REGISTER page to go to our outside registration site hosted by Events.com. You’ll be amazed at the low price.

Whether you are new to the race or a faithful alumnus, we’re glad to have you with us.

Welcome to the new site

We have changed the look and feel of our Website but not the look and feel of our classic race. The Glen Tay Block Race is unchanged for 2018. Same distance. Same route. Same low entrance fee.

We have updated a few things, however. You can now REGISTER ONLINE instead of by mail. If you want to save a few dollars, register online before the end of July. On August 1st, the price goes up. You can register in person on the day of the race at the start line, but it will cost more, too.

See you on the last Thursday in August. Same time. Same place.
